Job summary

An educational service provider in Calgary is seeking part-time teacher-tutors. Overview

Oxford Learning Calgary West is seeking part-time teacher-tutors for our learning centre. This in-person role is ideal for someone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in math and science. Lessons are pre-planned, and tutors will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Details

Location: In-person at Oxford Learning Calgary West. In-person work required. Relocation packages are not offered. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Schedule
  • After-school and evening hours: 4:00pm – 8:00pm
  • Some Saturdays: 9:00am – 1:00pm
  • Commitment preferred until the end of the term in June; continuing through the summer is an added benefit
Salary

$17 per hour

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Teach up to 3 students at a time, at different levels
  • Teach both online and in-person sessions
  • Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Fill in post-lesson notes
  • Complete daily student communication updates
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • University students with tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of current Grades 9–12 math and science curriculum
  • Proficiency in Physics, Chemistry, and/or Biology is an asset
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9–12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
