Role Description

This is a part-time, 30 hours a week, on-site role for a Heritage and Culture Manager located in Markerville, AB. In this role, you will oversee the management of cultural and historical programs, plan and execute heritage-related events, and ensure the preservation and organization of historical artifacts. Your responsibilities will include engaging the community through outreach initiatives, managing museum operations, training and supporting a team of staff or volunteers, developing interpretive materials, and coordinating with stakeholders to promote understanding and interest in local heritage.

Qualifications
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills to coordinate events, programs, and operations effectively.
  • Experience in cultural heritage education, community engagement, and public relations to promote and enhance appreciation of local history.
  • Proficiency in research, documentation, and archiving techniques to ensure proper preservation of historical materials and artifacts.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Technical knowledge and proficiency in museum practices, heritage management, or cultural studies are advantageous.
  • Bachelor’s degree in history, museum studies, cultural management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site in Markerville, AB, with a flexible attitude for working some weekends and holidays as required.
