Job Description / Overview

The Helper, Welder will support welding and metal fabrication operations by operating metal cleaning equipment, assisting structural steel and platework fitters, sheet metal workers, and metal machine operators, sorting metal sheets and parts, cleaning machines, loading and unloading vehicles, polishing metal products to a mirror finish, and interpreting work orders.

Responsibilities
  • Operate metal cleaning equipment to remove excess welds, rust, scale, and other materials from surfaces of metal products.
  • Assist structural steel and platework fitters, sheet metal workers, metal machine operators, or other metal workers as needed.
  • Sort metal sheets, parts, scrap metal, and other materials.
  • Clean machines and immediate work areas.
  • Load and unload vehicles.
  • Polish metal products to a mirror finish.
  • Read and interpret work orders.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in welding support or metal fabrication is an asset.
  • Physical ability to manage physically demanding work and handle heavy loads.
  • Attention to detail and strong oral communication skills.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and an ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Valid Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or work permit (ability to work in Canada required).
