Your Next Challenge

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Health and Safety, you will be part of the Health and Safety Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives of the project are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities
  • Understand the health and safety goals and strategies of the company and work with the Health & Safety General Supervisor to develop targets to achieve fiscal, strategic and legislative requirements.
  • Support underground operations by attending safety meetings and huddles, developing and reviewing procedures, standards, and guidelines for safe work.
  • Ensure site compliance to local (provincial) and national legislation and produce inspection reports.
  • Participate in incident investigations and provide guidance on follow‑up action items.
  • Inspect, audit and evaluate health and safety management systems, workplace conditions, equipment and work practices.
  • Support and maintain health and safety management systems for underground operations.
  • Ensure training provided to employees meets intended and legislative requirements.
  • Correct or commend health and safety performance.
  • Provide in‑field coaching to supervisors and workers on safe work practices.
  • Ensure new policies and procedures are distributed, discussed and understood, and adhered to.
  • Liaise with MLITSD inspectors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5 years experience in underground mining operations, with 3 years of direct health and safety experience (hands‑on mining experience is considered an asset).
  • Accredited in common core programs #770121 – common core for first line underground supervisor, #770010 – underground hard rock miner common core.
  • Train the Trainer certificate.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in influencing positive work behaviours and environments, conflict management, training of personnel, etc.
  • Bilingualism in French is considered an asset.
  • Operational understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants (OHSA O. Reg. 854).
  • Experience and willingness to participate in Ontario Mine Rescue training is considered an asset.
Your Work Schedule

Schedule: 7/7 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine.

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
