HEAD OF OPERATIONS (VOLUNTEER)

Organization: Right to Live Canada

Location: Remote (Canada-wide)

Time Commitment: 15+ hours per week (Flexible)

THE MISSION Canada is currently facing a human rights crisis of international consequence: poverty-driven disability euthanasia (MAiD). Individuals, blocked by state‑enforced poverty, are choosing to end their lives with state assistance due to being unable to access essentials such as medical procedures, supportive housing, or even food. This systemic failure has triggered a United Nations investigation, criticism from the Canadian Human Rights Commission, and global condemnation. Right to Live Canada is engineering the only viable, system‑level alternative to this crisis – Social Brokerage. By creating a pipeline between sources of raw capital and specific one‑time support plans ("Stability Mandates") for individuals in the process of applying for MAiD, the organization creates the "viable alternative" that the system itself mandates its assessors to find but does not currently provide. This represents the world's first market‑based solution to poverty‑driven euthanasia and the creation of a social impact credit system which exchanges philanthropic capital for verified, life‑affirming outcomes, akin to carbon credits. Right to Live Canada is currently pre‑pilot.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and maintain the internal operating structure of the organization, including roles, teams, and active projects
  • Translate executive priorities into executable project structures and workflows
  • Stand up new initiatives by defining scope, staffing needs, timelines, and coordination methods
  • Track project progress across the organization and intervene when work stalls
  • Create and maintain a centralized operational dashboard using cloud‑based tools that provides leadership with clear, real‑time visibility into projects, roles, and status
  • Manage volunteer performance, including onboarding, replacement, and off‑boarding when necessary
  • Maintain operational visibility so leadership does not need to carry day‑to‑day execution context
  • Ensure work produced is usable, complete, and aligned with agreed objectives
  • Create and maintain lightweight systems for documentation, handoffs, and continuity
WHO THIS IS FOR

This role is for someone who is comfortable building structure where none exists and operating without constant oversight. The Head of Operations should be able to take a loosely defined objective and turn it into an organized, functioning system.

  • Has experience in operations, program management, project management, or organizational execution
  • Thinks naturally in systems, dependencies, and workflows
  • Is comfortable coordinating people and replacing contributors who are not performing
  • Can hold operational context across multiple parallel initiatives
  • Prefers responsibility and clarity over formal authority or titles
  • Is reliable, self‑directed, and capable of sustained follow‑through

This role is NOT a fit for individuals who require rigid job descriptions, frequent direction, or a fully formed organization to step into.
