Overview
The Azrieli Foundation seeks a Grants Manager to support the Azrieli Music Arts and Culture Centre (AMACC). Reporting to the AMACC Managing Director, this role advances and administers AMACC's granting portfolio across all funding levels, identifies and assesses new funding opportunities, manages relationships with grantees, monitors grants performance and impact, and contributes to the strategic direction of the AMACC granting stream. The position requires subject matter expertise, strategic leadership, and hands-on grant management to ensure philanthropic investments deliver mission-aligned outcomes in the Canadian music, arts and culture sectors.
Responsibilities
- Grants Management: Manage the full lifecycle for all AMACC grants from intake and assessment through to agreements, payments, reporting, and closeout.
- Grantee Communications: Act as the primary point of contact for grantees, ensuring high-quality communication, support, and alignment with Foundation policies, practices, values, and expectations.
- Internal Documentation: Prepare assessment summaries and funding recommendations for review by Foundation leadership and Board.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and current MAC granting records.
- Meetings & Coordination: Prepare for and participate in all grants team meetings.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor grant outcomes and performance; develop KPIs and synthesize findings for learning and strategic planning.
- Team Support: Support and guide the AMACC Grants Coordinator in administrative and operational tasks related to granting.
Sector Knowledge & Strategic Alignment
- Maintain deep knowledge of developments across Canada's music, arts and culture sectors and use it to shape AMACC's granting priorities.
- Collaborate with the AMACC Managing Director and Advisory Council to develop and implement funding strategies aligned with AMACC’s vision and the Foundation’s broader mission.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend strategic funding and partnership opportunities.
- Contribute insights to cross-Foundation grantmaking discussions where appropriate.
- Foster a dynamic community around AMACC granting activity and maintain relationships with grantees and stakeholders.
- Represent AMACC and the Azrieli Foundation at sector events, conferences and grantee convenings.
- Ensure grantees accurately represent the Azrieli Foundation in public communications and materials in line with brand standards.
Qualifications
- Experience and Education: Minimum of 5 years of experience in grantmaking, cultural philanthropy, arts administration, or related nonprofit/foundation roles. Demonstrated experience managing a portfolio of grants from intake through evaluation. Direct experience with organizations in the music, arts and culture sectors in Canada. Post-secondary education in a relevant field is preferred.
- Skills and Knowledge: Strong knowledge of trends, institutions and issues in Canadian music, arts and culture. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize and present complex information. Advanced project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities. Strong analytical skills and ability to assess proposals and evaluate impact. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with web-based grant management systems or collaborative platforms. Bilingualism (French and English) required.
