Job Description

Reporting to the Project Manager, the General Laborer a variety of work related to the repair and general upkeep of plant(s) grounds and building(s).

Responsibilities

1. Take care of the grounds using a 100Hp tractor (training can be provided), zero turn ride on lawn mower, push lawn mower and gas trimmer;
2. Performs painting work;
3. Handles, moves and stores furniture, equipment, supplies, materials and tools;
4. Prepares and puts in place the necessary protections and signage during work;
5. Participates in periodic and ad hoc inspections of buildings, equipment and grounds;
6. Participates in the taking of various inventories;
7. Carries out cleaning work;
8. Performs all other related tasks.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Experience with operating a tractor and forklift would be considered an asset.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
• Must hold a class 5 driver's license.
• Interpersonal, teamwork and customer service skills.
• Good time management, priority setting and ability to manage and resolve technical issues quickly.
• Autonomous, versatile and organized.
• Detail-oriented and self-starter.
• Results-oriented and health and safety conscious.
• Good physical and manual ability to perform basic maintenance tasks.
• Able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

This is a temporary, full-time position, until September 2026. The incumbent of this position must be available during periods of high production and must be able to work under pressure, occasionally.

May be exposed to possible operations hazards including caustic and acidic chemicals, heavy machinery, hot or cold work environment temperatures, slippery surfaces, water hazards and electrical equipment.

Amount of time spent – Standing 55%, Walking 15%, Sitting 30%.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Required to use ladders or stairs.

The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (occasionally 60 pounds).
