FUEL AND LUBE TECHNICIAN

The Fuel and Lube Technician is responsible for the safe and reliable operation and basic maintenance of Cote Gold's Fuel and Lube Truck. The Fuel and Lube Technicians work collaboratively with the team to deliver execution of the integrated plan and schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Area 1:

Maintenance of equipment.

  • Perform energy lock out and tag out [LOTO] on mining equipment to ensure zero energy state prior to working on the units.
  • Fueling mining equipment as per the specific fueling procedures [including LOTO].
  • Inspect mining equipment to identify leaks, abnormal engine noise, overheating, damage, excessive wear.
  • Take oil samples when required as per equipment maintenance schedule.
  • Maintain proper oil and fuel levels in the fuel & lube truck.
  • Perform Pre-Ops on the lube truck.
  • Lubricate units as per the specific lubrication procedures.
  • Ensuring grease tanks are full for the automatic grease systems.
  • Perform Pre-PM inspections, as per procedures, prior to the PM scheduled date, to identify issues, take samples, and to perform any other predictive maintenance.
  • Following the direction from control room operator to sequence fueling units in the pit based on the production schedule for the shift.
  • Monitor the performance of grease injectors, report any issues related to lubrication rate and injector timing/metering to ensure proper lubrication and prevent fire hazards due to over lubrication.
  • Inspect lubrication lines, and report any issues such as; bent, broken, pinched, disconnected, restricted, plugged or defective lubrication lines.
  • Follow the best practices in contamination control in filtration & oil cleanliness.
  • Assist with PMs as required in terms of change oil & filters for major systems, taking samples from major components, maintaining of the automatic lubrication system, and general lubrication of equipment.
  • Maintain fuel storage tanks, cleaning/changing breathers, taking annual fuel sample to ensure fuel cleanliness as per Canada clean fuel standard.
  • Protecting the environment by preventing, controlling, and reporting any fuel and lube spills.

Area 2:

Operational excellence.

  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Continually seek to improve your skills as an operator and maintainer.
  • Watch for inefficiencies or problems.
  • Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
  • Embrace the MineStar high precision GPS system on all the equipment to make the Autonomous haulage and Autonomous drilling work more efficiently and effectively.
  • Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability and cost).
  • Being a site key player in improving the hydrocarbon management program.

Area 3:

Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.

  • Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
  • Mentor and train new team members.
  • Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
  • Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
  • Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves

minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Class G Driving License.

Work experience - Nature & Length

  • 6 months of commercial vehicle operation or equivalent.
  • Equipment maintenance experience is considered an asset.

Additional qualifications - Competency requirements

  • Class G Drivers License.
  • Clean driving record.
  • The following qualifications are considered an asset, but not required:
    • Level 1 Lubrication
    • Oil Sampling
    • Lubrication fundamentals
    • Level 1- Ue [air borne Ultra-sound]
    • Level 1- IR [Infra-red]
    • Oil Cleanliness and Contamination Control
