Qualifications

  • Must have more than 5 years of experience in a CVOR Enforcement role.
  • At least 3 years of teaching/training experience required.
  • First Aid and CPR certification necessary.
  • Must possess a Class G license without restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily responsibilities of the fleet compliance team.

Career Opportunities: Fleet Compliance Supervisor (4988)

The Tomlinson Group of Companies is currently recruiting to fill a full-time position of a Fleet Compliance Supervisor. This position works in conjunction with Tomlinson’s Fleet Compliance Coordinator and Driver Trainer. This position is located within our Health and Safety Team and covers the geographical area of Eastern Ontario, with the head office located in Barrhaven.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage the daily responsibilities of the fleet compliance team – This person will have direct reports.

  • Support a 700+ fleet consisting of CVOR and light duty trucks.
  • Attend MTO Scales and Roadside Inspection locations where drivers have been stopped to liaise between the Company and Enforcement.
  • Attend vehicle collision and incident scenes and liaise between the company and the police.
  • Conduct early morning spot checks and observations on driver’s documents and driver’s ability to perform pre-trip inspections.
  • Attend early morning driver safety meetings to answer CVOR related questions and discuss trends and upcoming blitzes.
  • Keep current on changes to regulations that affect CVOR and driver requirements.
  • Research and draft Safety Alerts on upcoming blitzes, regulatory changes, etc.
  • Conduct training to groups of up to 25 staff on CVOR, Load Securement, ELDs, etc.
  • Conduct CVOR mock-audits for the company’s 3 CVORs, write reports on findings, set and monitor goals to keep the company compliant and heading in the right direction.
  • Monitor the company’s GPS system relating to ELDs and electronic pre-trips, tracking trends and working with drivers and management to remain compliant.
  • Subject matter expert on all things CVOR, HTA, IRP, IFTA, MVIS.
  • Liaise between the company and its CVOR Consultant and provide all required information for IRP, IFTA, MVIS and CVOR renewals and returns.
  • Assist with Superload/Oversize Load Escorts.

Skills:

  • Understand and interpret HTA and Regulations.
  • Understand CVOR requirements.
  • Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Adobe products.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and take control during stressful situations.
  • Ability to problem solve and utilize critical thinking skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Fast paced environment; the majority of the time being spent on the road and in the field interacting with drivers, assisting with vehicle collisions and incidents and consulting with management on various issues.
  • There will be an administrative component as well so some time will be spent in an office setting.
  • Ever-changing priorities with tight deadlines and high demand for task completion.
  • Rotating On-Call coverage when needed.
  • Overnight travel within Eastern Ontario with the need to work remotely possible.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work as required.
  • Construction environment where PPE will be required to be worn.
  • Irregular work hours, frequent early mornings (4:30 am) and occasional late night work.
  • Working outside for prolonged periods of time in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and climb in and out of Commercial Vehicles.

Education, Experience & Position Requirements:

  • 5+ years in a CVOR Enforcement role.
  • 3+ years of teaching and training (CVOR, Schedule 1, Load Securement, ELD).
  • First Aid and CPR, AED.
  • Class G license with no restrictions or demerit points.
  • AZ or DZ commercial license would be an asset.
  • Experience with GPS and dash camera technology would be considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) would be considered an asset. – We are now licensed in Quebec.
