Job Summary

The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in all assigned accounting tasks. This position is an opportunity for career growth with a dedicated and passionate team located at our Steinbach, Manitoba headquarters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the Finance department.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, reporting packages and presentations.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to support executive decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Provide oversight and hands-on support to the Payroll, Billing, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable staff.
  • Participate in the preparation and review of monthly forecasts and yearly budgets as well as the related analyses and reports.
  • Ensure all account reconciliations are completed and accounting procedures followed in accordance with SOX requirements.
  • Manage tax compliance, including preparation and filing of tax returns.
  • Provide coaching and assistance to the finance team members.
  • Participate in management meetings when invited and working towards continuance improvement of Financial Team and Company.
  • Manage daily and weekly cash flow.
  • Other duties as required.
Education and Training
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
  • CPA designation or plans to pursue CPA.
  • Advanced computer experience in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word are required. Experience with Great Plains Dynamics, TMW or Axon software is an asset, but not required.
Skills and Competency Requirements

The core competencies required for this position include analytical skills, a very high attention to detail and numerical accuracy, and a proven ability to work in complex spreadsheets. The ability to set priority and juggle several projects concurrently.

The technical competencies require a high degree of attention to numerical detail and accuracy, strong proofing and editing skills, results orientated, the ability to meet stringent deadlines and time management skills. Examples of both core and technical competencies are listed but not limited to:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to work under the pressure of absolute deadlines.
  • Trustworthy, as you will be dealing with highly confidential information and financial statements.
