Job Title: Financial Controller
Immediate Supervisor: Chief Executive Officer
Salary: $110,000 - $125,000 (Based on experience)
Schedule - Monday - Friday 8-5pm - Overtime, evening, and weekend work may be required during peak periods

A private company in the region is looking for a Financial Controller.

Summary of Responsibilities

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and collaborates with the entire administrative team to ensure proper financial management of the company.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage the accounting cycle:
    • Accounts Payable: record invoices received, prepare payment selection reports, print and record checks, prepare, review, and follow up on invoices, and track outstanding accounts.
    • Accounts Receivable: issue invoices, follow up on overdue receivables, and manage collections.
    • Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date financial records in line with recognized accounting principles.
    • Record journal entries, perform account reconciliations, prepare trial balances, and maintain general ledgers.
    • Prepare standard and custom financial reports, including performance indicators.
  • Manage client accounts: deposits, payment recording, and handling client communications.
  • Payroll: verify and process payroll for a team of more than 200 employees, including independent contractors.
  • Prepare, provide, and explain budget variance reports, when required.
  • Prepare mandatory remittances to the Receiver General and other authorities, including GST, QST, and CNESST.
  • Prepare annual forms such as T4s, T4As, and Relevé 1s.
  • Perform administrative tasks to support management in implementing internal controls, including updating the policies and procedures manual.
  • Work with operations to renew annual organizational insurance.
  • Make organizational purchases within pre-set budgets.

Profile Sought

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or another relevant field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in full-cycle accounting.
  • CPA designation is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills; organized and autonomous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact in a professional and influential manner.
  • Ability to adapt and perform in a constantly changing work environment.
  • Excellent computer skills and willingness to upgrade as needed.
  • Proficient with: Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks Online.
  • Proficiency in English is desirable.

Working Conditions

Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
