Position Overview

Reporting to General Manager, the Finance Superintendent is responsible for all financial and management reporting, financial and management accounting systems and processes at Kidd operations. The incumbent is also responsible for all purchasing function for Kidd Operations, which includes coordinating and aligning regional/global purchasing strategies with that of the Kidd Operations, ensuring the local purchasing practices adhere to the DAM and controlling the accuracy of the parts inventory system through cycle counts, adjustments and turnover statistics.

Specific Accountabilities
  • Directs timely and accurate preparation of profit and loss account, balance sheet, standard and special management reports.
  • Provides financial analysis and recommendation for management decisions.
  • Supervise and review the business unit’s finance and procurement activities by optimizing material, and labour use to achieve or exceed quality and financial objectives (cost control and reduction).
  • Responsible for providing direction for finance, accounting, tax, insurance, budget, credit, auditing and some treasury strategies at Kidd Operations and adhering to global strategies.
  • Supervise and review all budgeting, estimates and forecasting activities for the Kidd Operations business units through timely and accurate preparation of such activities in order to aid in decision‑making (i.e. investment decisions).
  • Responsible for identifying, documenting and implementing internal financial controls. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, which include Glencore governance standards, accounting, tax, government and management reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing systems for the accounts receivables and/or accounts payable functions.
  • Develop and recommend accounting methods and procedures and coordinate with other departments as required.
  • Liaise with internal audit group to provide them with required data for future audits, to formulate and implement action plans for deficiencies, etc.
  • Coordinates process to document and communicate with senior management, internal audit functions, external auditors and the accounting function.
  • Responsible for strategic guidance for strategic planning and direction of the organization’s overall risk management and loss prevention programs, which may include property and casualty insurance and general liability insurance.
  • Up‑to‑date understanding of legal issues around organization liability and understanding of current insurance trends is critical.
  • Authorize capital spending and major contracts through ensuring that corporate rules on authorization levels and capitalization are adhered to.
  • Ensure consistency and compatibility of common system applications for functions that have been identified and implemented across the organization.
  • Ensure management accounting systems meet the needs of the operations to maximize cash flow and net present value (“NPV”) of Kidd Operations.
Qualifications
  • Strong accounting and finance capabilities, including a professional accounting designation with over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • A strong business orientation and customer focus with an ability to communicate to all levels of the business.
  • Process management skills; organize people and activities to achieve targets.
  • A strong leader, possessing superior analytical skills and the ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Financial systems experience with Ellipse, Hyperion Enterprise or Hyperion Strategic Finance as well as knowledge of Microsoft Office.

We offer a competitive wage and bonus plan complemented by a comprehensive range of benefits. Wage will vary depending on experience, education and certification. $120,000‑$150,000 annually.
