Role
The Field Planner/Scheduler will be accountable to the Onshore Project Manager for day-to-day work and to the company’s Senior Lead Planner and ultimately to the company’s Manager, Project Controls. The Field Planner/Scheduler will assist the project team to develop project plans and schedules according to standards as established for the program by the Manager, Project Controls.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the project teams in the development of the project plans and overseeing the contractors to translate the plans into project schedules.
- Providing guidance to the contractors on implementation of company Project Controls standards and procedures to ensure consistent progress reporting.
- Providing functional support to the core team and other project teams as needed.
- Being proficient in the use of Primavera P6 and MS Project.
- Overseeing the development, review, and approval of the contractor’s baseline schedules; establishing schedule logic, key interfaces, critical path, and key milestones aligned with program master schedule.
- Collecting, validating schedule and daily/weekly/monthly progress data from the various contractors and inputting to monthly schedule and progress reports.
- Attending all weekly construction progress review and planning meetings.
- Ensuring the contractors develop and maintain resource loaded Level 3 / 4 schedule and 3 week rolling look ahead schedules along with other contractual schedule deliverables.
- Identifying trends and evaluating impact on the work; implementing baseline change control procedures, performing time impact analysis for scope changes, delays and mitigation plans.
- Supporting the Project Managers with analysis of contractor schedules including work performed against forecast, forensic schedule analysis, delay analysis and what if scenarios.
- Assuring the credibility of information contained in the schedules via schedule quality assessments, audits in line with company standards and procedures related to planning/scheduling.
- Facilitating discussions among contractors to identify schedule interfaces and dependencies to align schedules with program master schedule.
- Participating in site walkthroughs/walkdowns to validate construction progress ensuring accuracy of schedules and progress reporting.
- Working closely with the contractors during the initial phases to evaluate their capabilities and in-house processes, and to understand, intervene and provide direction or training in processes and business practices to ensure overall project planning objectives are achieved.
- Collaborating with all affiliated parties, utilizing risk assessment and decision analysis techniques on all potential opportunities, ensuring that only the most appropriate options are selected throughout the duration of the work.
- Ensuring integration of processes and systems with other Project Controls and SCM functions including change management, cash flow development, work face planning, forecasting, progress & performance reporting and variance analysis.
- Supporting Supply Chain Management with field contract management as needed to support validation of LEM’s including installed quantities, resolution of contract claims or disputes.
Qualifications
- Intermediate – Senior level experience required (8+ years minimum) in a similar role.
- In addition to planning/scheduling, must have construction coordinator relative experience (working with contractors to ensure they meet company’s planning/scheduling requirements), and quantity surveying experience.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6.
