Position Summary
The Family Ministry Assistant provides administrative and operational support across all areas of Family Ministry while actively engaging in relational and leadership roles within College Ministry. This position ensures the smooth operation of programs, events, and communications while fostering consistent, meaningful relationships with families, children, youth, college students, and ministry volunteers. The role reports to the Director of Family Ministries and works closely with the Children’s, Youth, and College Ministry teams.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Volunteer Support
- Manage calendars, registrations, attendance, and communication for programs and events.
- Maintain accurate records in the church database for volunteers, leaders, and families.
- Support volunteer onboarding, background checks, Safe Gatherings, and driver training.
- Assist with financial tasks such as payments, invoices, and fundraising support.
Event & Program Support
- Assist with planning, preparation, logistics, and coordination for Family Ministry events.
- Coordinate facility setup and provide on-site support during events.
- Participate in post-event evaluation, follow-up, and volunteer appreciation.
College Ministry Engagement
- Support weekly gatherings, small groups, and special events.
- Lead gatherings or discussions as needed and contribute to overall ministry direction.
- Help guide and support the College Ministry Student Leadership Team.
Family Connection & Communication
- Serve as an additional contact for families with questions about Family Ministry programs.
- Assist in creating Family Ministry resources for communication and education.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication across social media, email, and the church app.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support the integration of new families into ministry programs.
- Take on special projects or assignments as directed by the Director of Family Ministries.
- Participate in major Family Ministry and all-staff events such as retreats, milestone services, Easter, and Christmas.
- Contribute to ongoing ministry evaluation and improvement processes.
Schedule
- Sunday Morning: Worship and program support
- Monday–Thursday (8:30 AM–5:00 PM): Administrative work, planning, and meetings (Tuesday schedule adjusted to accommodate evening programming)
- Tuesday Evening (6:00–9:00 PM): College Ministry gathering (includes prep and clean-up)
- Sunday & Wednesday Evenings: As needed for scheduled programs or events
