Mission is located on the unceded, ancestral, and shared territory of the Stó:ló Peoples, specifically on Leq’á:mel, Sem’á:th, Mêtexwi, Kwantlen, Sq’éwlets, and Katzie traditional territories in the lower mainland of BC. Nestled on the southern coastal mountain slopes overlooking the lush Fraser River Valley, Mission is a rapidly growing and dynamic community of approximately 41,500 residents, 20 kilometers north of the US border and 70 kilometers east of Vancouver. Although Mission is part of a broader metropolitan area, it still maintains its distinct and welcoming small-town flavor.

You will perform a variety of tasks related to municipal buildings and facilities including installing and maintaining ice, operating resurfacing and other related equipment, operating the arena refrigeration plant, performing minor maintenance and repair of machines, pumps and filters, performing minor construction, renovation and maintenance of municipal buildings, ensuring building security and performing janitorial and custodial functions for the ice arena, curling rink, swimming pool area, public and multi-purpose areas. You must have the ability to work with minimal supervision.

You will be a high school graduate (or equivalent), possess a valid refrigeration operator (RO) certificate of qualification, a building service worker (BSW) certificate, Level 1 First Aid certificate and a valid Class 5 BC drivers’ license. Pool Operator Level 1 and 2 certifications would be an asset. A negative Police Information Check is also required.

The 2025 hourly rate of pay for a Facility Maintenance Worker 1 - 3 is between $33.53 - $35.84 plus 4.4% in lieu of all benefits increasing to 12.4% upon completion of the probationary period. Auxiliary employees must be flexible and available to work on short notice both day and afternoon shifts including weekends. Employees working afternoon shift receive a 6% shift premium. Auxiliary work assignments vary from one day to three months and auxiliary employees have no guarantee of regular shifts.
