A public educational institution is seeking a Facilities Interior Designer to provide technical support for renovations and refurbishment projects. This role requires managing project budgets, developing interior space standards, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and proficiency in AutoCAD are essential. Strong communication skills and experience with renovation projects are also necessary for this position.
The Facilities Interior Designer is responsible for providing technical support to Kwantlen Polytechnic University for renovations and refurbishment projects. This role assists in the development of interior space requirements and standards, including selecting furniture, and helps plan, co-coordinate and oversee renovations. Under the general direction of the Manager, Capital Projects, this position will assist in developing and coordinating interior planning, scheduling and technical, contractual, and financial activities in support of renovation project delivery, campus refurbishment and furniture acquisition and replacement. The position is expected to interpret and comply with codes, regulations, by-laws and all applicable legislation relating to facilities and will assist in developing policies related to areas of responsibility. Consultation occurs internally with administration, faculty, staff and students, and externally with service contractors, inspection authorities and consultants. The Facilities Interior Designer exercises considerable independence of judgment and action to maintain project budgets and schedules for several projects simultaneously.
