What You Will Do

Undertake statutory social work assessments, ensuring children are safeguarded and outcomes are improved.

Manage a caseload of complex and high-risk cases, making sound and defensible professional judgements.

Complete Child and Family Assessments, Section 17 assessments, and Section 47 enquiries.

Carry out direct work with children and families to identify risk, analyse need, and develop safety and support plans.

Prepare high-quality reports for meetings, legal planning, and court when required.

Work effectively with multi-agency partners, ensuring children’s voices are central to assessments and planning.

Maintain high-quality, timely case recording and participate in duty rotas and team decision-making.

Support and mentor less experienced staff and engage in ongoing professional development.

What We’re Looking For

Degree in Social Work (or equivalent).

Social Work England registration.

Significant experience working in a Children’s Assessment Team or similar frontline safeguarding service.

Strong knowledge of Children Act 1989, Working Together, and statutory assessment frameworks.

Proven ability to manage complex cases and make defensible decisions.

Excellent assessment, report writing, and communication skills.

Experience working within Medway or similar local authority setting.

Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced staff.
