Job Title: ESL Coordinator

Location: Corner Brook, NL

Position Type: 1 full‑time position until March 31, 2026, with a possibility of extension pending budget availability and satisfactory performance

Closing date: Until filled

Reporting to the Director of Regional Settlement Services and the Director of Language Services, the ESL Coordinator will be responsible for managing the ESL program for the satellite offices. The role includes but is not limited to managing ESL instructors and outreach tutors and providing ESL‑related instruction to clients of the ANC in Corner Brook.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the review, development, and revision of course materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans
  • Collaborate with Director of Language Services and Director of Employment Services in developing and supervising course materials
  • Plan, improve, and oversee delivery of the ESL programs in Corner Brook, Labrador West, and Gander as well as for the satellite offices in general
  • Support Regional Settlement Counsellors in the delivery of Conversation Circles
  • Coordinate the ordering and use of ESL instructional aids and materials for all offices
  • Assist in the preparation of the budget and administration of the budget for supplies, equipment, and facilities in area of assignment
  • Plan and provide staff development for ESL teachers and outreach tutors
  • Keep informed of and comply with IRCC’s ESL program regulations
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required
  • Research best practice related to ESL‑training and work to secure training for team members. Ensure attendance is tracked daily and reported as required as well as follow‑up with all ESL teachers, outreach tutors, and students
  • Conduct regular evaluations around student and teacher’s needs and provide appropriate feedback
  • Compile, prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports for submission to relevant funders
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor of Education and/or recognized TESL/TEFL Diploma/Certificate, or equivalent training and experience
  • Significant experience in supporting the implementation of effective ESL programs at the local, provincial, or regional level
  • Passion for working with people from diverse cultures and varying educational backgrounds
  • Above average command of English language, both written and oral
  • Experience in teaching/adult education and strong commitment to student learning
  • Flexible and able to work evenings and weekends
  • Competency in managing a service delivery model with the ability to adjust to meet client needs
  • Skilled in reporting both narrative and numerical data
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with a diverse client group
  • Strong in managing community partnerships and works collaboratively
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite and Google Workspace specifically
Conditions of Employment
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
  • Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday‑Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm)
  • Valid class 5 NL driver’s license and daily access to a reliable vehicle is required
  • Ability to travel across the province required
  • Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
