Mission

Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is seeking seasonal Equipment Operators to join our team in Prince George, BC.

Main Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the equipment operator include, but are not limited to:

• Capable of operating heavy equipment such as wheel loaders of various sizes and makes, skid-steers, and excavators
• Operate all heavy equipment safely and efficiently according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate, and refill the equipment as necessary
• Ensure that equipment is stored safely and securely
• Capable of loading and unloading trucks safely and efficiently
• Able to take and follow instruction from supervisor, adjust to changing conditions and communicate any and all needs to supervisor
• Capable of doing various tasks and labour duties as required

Qualifications/Experience

• A minimum Class 5 driver's license (preference given to applicants with Class 1 or 3 license)
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
• 2-3 years experience operating a diverse range of construction equipment is required
• 3-5 years in the construction industry is preferred
• Must be self-motivated, driven and able to work well independently
• Must be able to work well in a team environment

Working Conditions

• Overtime as required
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
• Must be physically able to work general labour
• Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry 50 LBS as needed
• Use of personal protection equipment is required

This is a unionized position with an anticipated wage of $44.59 CAD per hour. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
