Job summary

A local government authority in Canada is seeking an Environmental Technician I for a 1-year term. This role involves performing environmental protection duties at the Glenmore Landfill, including inspecting and monitoring equipment, managing organics, and data collection for compliance. The candidate should have a Diploma in Environmental Sciences, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and a BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence. Qualifications

  • Completion of a Diploma in Environmental Sciences or a related field is required.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • A BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, operate, monitor and maintain landfill, composting, and bio-solid equipment.
  • Take steps to reduce the production of environmental emissions.
  • Assist in the installation of materials to improve operations from an environmental perspective.
  • Collect, record, and analyze data for regulatory compliance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
  • Liaise with contractors, equipment operators, and other City staff.
