Position Specific Description: This role has the responsibility of leading a Substation Engineering team responsible for reviewing, executing, and validating Greenfield and Brownfield Substation projects for renewable energy utility scale projects. The Substation Engineering Leader will be responsible for leading a team of Substation Engineers for all NEER and FRP substation activities from conceptual design through construction and commissioning execution. This position can be remote.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Substation Project Engineers that oversee the Engineering Scope of NEER Greenfield and Brownfield Substation Engineering projects.
  • Execute assigned substation tasks from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution).
  • Secure engineering consulting resources from approved suppliers by developing a scope of work, securing bids, evaluating, and awarding work through NEER’s Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Group.
  • Coordinate with other project stakeholders to develop and secure a substation site, support engineering updates, data and permits necessary to design and build the substation.
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables including scope of work documents, Issued for Bid, Issued for Procurement, Issued for Construction, design criteria and As-built drawings.
  • Coordinate with other groups to ensure E&C substation projects are successful; represent internal and external interests, including progress updates, issues, and risk mitigation in meetings with management.
  • Support Interconnection Services during review of interconnection documentation including system impact studies, facility studies, reactive and harmonic studies and Interconnection agreements; ensure alignment with Transmission Owner requirements and ISO requirements in project design.
  • Work with and communicate to transmission owners/operators/ISOs to ensure project deliverables meet off-taker requirements, are timely, and accurate.
  • Collaborate with project engineering resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities, work plans and lines of demarcation.
  • Ensure projects are efficiently, cost effectively, and safely implemented in accordance with department processes, procedures, standards and policies.
  • Support Legal in regulatory filings, depositions and/or hearings.
  • Collaborate with component OEMs to enhance/adapt designs to integrate with NEER’s philosophies.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and additional software knowledge depending on specialization

compensation: The estimated base pay for this position is $124,000.00 to $186,000.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on experience, qualifications, and other factors.
