Salary Details

The salary range for this position is CAD $36.69/Hr. - CAD $45.81/Hr.

Job Summary

Come work as an Electromyography Technologist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Electromyography Technologist to join the Neuromuscular Disease team at Vancouver General Hospital and supporting UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. As an Electromyography Technologist with VCH you will:

  • Perform various diagnostic tests/techniques to assist physician in detecting disorders of the brain and nervous system.
  • Operate electromyographic equipment to conduct electrophysiological tests such as evoked potential, nerve conduction velocity, muscle strength and repetitive stimulation and performs other neurophysiological tests as required.
  • Record measurements and formulate technical reports for interpretation by medical staff to assist with clinical diagnosis.
  • Guide clinical experience of assigned staff.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Diploma from an accredited program in electroneurophysiology and one (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Registration of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (BRETC), the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM) or the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET) examination.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to keep abreast of current professional standards and technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties accurately and maintain quality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with current computer applications.
  • General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Physical ability to perform duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check. As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
