As a recognized leader in the underground mine construction industry, Thyssen Mining provides a unique opportunity to work for a dynamic and growing contracting company that specializes in building underground mines for our clients. We specialize in executing mining projects in North America and internationally and are part of a global contracting group. With offices in Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Nevada, Thyssen Mining is a leader in the underground mine engineering and construction industry with expertise in all aspects of underground mining including shaft sinking, mine development, mine production, and underground construction. Our work also extends into the underground civil tunnelling construction sector. This role will be ‘Remote Hybrid’ whereby work location is open within North America. The successful candidate(s) will be required to travel from time-to-time to the various corporate offices and project sites.

Role & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Technical Services and Project teams with expertise in design and execution of underground mining development and construction projects. You have an engineering background and enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary team environment in a cross-functional role, providing both leadership and support to a team of engineers. Your work will help drive the success of the business through innovation and by following sound engineering principles - whether it be in project design or through project execution.

Qualifications and Skills

You have a degree in electrical engineering with 5+ years of experience in the mining industry and are a registered Professional Engineer with at least one of the governing engineering bodies in Canada and / or the US. You are a self-starter known for your initiative and drive and ultimately have the desire to lead a team of engineers or take on a project role in the field. You are a problem solver who thinks outside of the box, are meticulous in your work, and have excellent judgment when balancing risk with the success of a project. Your technical, written, time management, and communication skills are second to none, and you thrive on finding practical solutions to complex challenges.
