Employment Opportunity Education Assistant – 1.0 FTE Temporary Immediately – June 30, 2026

Calgary Girls Charter School (Grades 4-9) Calgary, Alberta

Calgary Girls Charter School (CGCS) is seeking a qualified applicant for a Temporary Education Assistant. This full-time position will commence immediately.

With direction from the classroom teacher, the Education Assistant is responsible to:

  • Support students with accommodations and strategies found in the IPP
  • Provide learning support, as well as executive function support, to a single student or a small group of students
  • Based on knowledge of the student, provide suggestions to the Teacher regarding ways to help the student reach the IPP goals
  • Collect data to support student growth
  • Support teacher driven Universal Design for Learning strategies within the classroom
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with the student's learning team
  • Communicate relevant information to the Teacher
  • Encourage positive interactions among students
  • Facilitate positive development of a student's social skills and emotional development.
  • Supervise students to support a safe and caring environment
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Provide patient and caring support for students with learning and/or behaviour challenges
  • Other related duties as required
Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have completed a post-secondary certificate in child care/development, education assistant, or behaviour management
  • Other combinations of related education and experience may also be considered
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Standard First Aid Certificate (or ability and willingness to pursue certification within a prescribed timeline)
  • Child CPR considered an asset
  • Ability to establish trust and rapport with students
  • Competency to support student use of technology (e.g., comfortable using a laptop)
  • Ability to manage situations of conflict
  • Ability to respond appropriately to challenging behaviours from students
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Alert and responsive to situations of risk
  • Physical ability to lift and carry classroom learning materials and to bend, stoop, twist, stand, walk, and sit frequently.
