Job summary

A licensed childcare facility in Delta, BC seeks an Early Childhood Educator to plan and implement age-appropriate activities for infants to school-aged children. The candidate must hold valid ECE and IT certificates, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and have a minimum of one year of experience in a licensed childcare setting. This role also includes supervising classrooms, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing care. Compensation is $36.60 per hour, working 35-40 hours a week.

Job description

Sunny Town Learn & Play Childcare Centre, established in 2015, is a licensed childcare facility in Delta, BC that offers play-based early learning for infants, toddlers, pre-school age and school‑aged children. The centre provides a nurturing, safe and stimulating environment where children learn about the world and themselves through structured and flexible play, enriching activities and outdoor experiences. With a focus on holistic development — physical, social-emotional, cognitive and communication skills — Sunny Town supports families by fostering creativity, independence, problem‑solving and life skills that prepare children for future success.

Responsibilities
  • Perform regular Early Childhood Educator duties, including planning and implementing age‑appropriate activities and providing daily care and supervision to children.
  • Work in assigned classrooms or rotate across classrooms as operational needs require to ensure educator‑to‑child ratios are met, including providing classroom coverage when necessary.
  • Oversee the implementation of early learning programs across Infant–Toddler, multi‑age, preschool, and school‑age classrooms to ensure program quality and consistency.
  • Provide on‑site supervision, mentoring, and pedagogical guidance to educators and ECE assistants, including onboarding support and identifying training needs.
  • Develop and adjust daily classroom staffing schedules and coordinate on‑site staff coverage to maintain compliance with licensing and ratio requirements.
  • Monitor classroom operations to ensure ongoing compliance with provincial childcare licensing regulations and support preparation for licensing inspections.
  • Observe, document, and prepare reports for parents/guardians, the Centre Manager, and the Owner regarding children’s learning progress or behavioural concerns.
  • Communicate program and staffing needs with the Centre Manager and Owner, support positive communication with families, and contribute to staff meetings and centre initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certificate and Infant–Toddler (IT) certificate are required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working as an ECE/ECEA in a licensed childcare centre.
  • Supervisory experience in a licensed childcare setting or other management experience is preferred.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate and a current Criminal Record Check are required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
  • Strong knowledge of provincial childcare licensing regulations, educator‑to‑child ratio requirements, and health and safety standards.
  • Ability to work early morning opening shifts in accordance with the centre’s operating hours (morning opening shift starts at 6:30 am).
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced childcare setting.
Compensation

$36.60/Hour

Work Schedule

35‑40 hours a week (7‑8 hours a day, 5 days a week).

Early morning shifts start at 6:30 a.m.
