Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent to lead E&I supervision within a large-scale pulp and paper manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for guiding E&I supervisors, coordinating critical electrical and instrumentation activities, and ensuring safe, reliable execution across mill operations. The position blends hands‑on floor leadership with planning, coordination, and people development.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion a strong safety culture through visible leadership, active engagement, and routine safety reviews
- Lead and support E&I supervisors through daily planning, execution reviews, and on-floor presence
- Coordinate E&I maintenance activities, repairs, and shutdown work to ensure timely and efficient completion
- Ensure adequate resources, tools, and support are in place to meet operational needs
- Own and support preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and basic care programs
- Apply Management Operating Systems consistently and support daily MOS routines and meetings
- Participate in daily production meetings and support planning, resource, and weekend review discussions
- Partner with external service providers and vendors to ensure quality work, reliable delivery, and cost effectiveness
- Work closely with Purchasing to secure materials and services at the best value
- Ensure salaried and hourly employees receive appropriate training to meet current and future operational needs
- Identify succession planning needs within the E&I organization for both salaried and hourly roles
- Keep teams informed and aligned with company priorities, performance, and operating philosophy
- Support supervisory staff with employee relations matters and policy enforcement
- Participate in labor relations discussions, including labor management and grievance meetings, while supporting a positive union relationship
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support maintenance needs
- Provide coverage for E&I leadership roles as needed
- Provide leadership oversight during major shutdown activities
- Maintain awareness of food safety programs, including GMPs, HACCP principles, and food safety standards

Experience & Education
- Degree in a related technical field or equivalent trade-based experience
- 5+ years of experience in the pulp and paper industry
- 5+ years of supervisory experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
