Job summary

A local contracting company in Edmonton is looking for a Drywall Installer. This permanent, full-time position requires reading blueprints and installing drywall sheets while ensuring surfaces are clean and prepared. Candidates should have at least a secondary school graduation certificate and some experience in the field. The job entails physically demanding tasks such as working at heights and handling heavy loads. Offers a salary of $36.00 per hour with a schedule of 35 hours a week, working on-site.

Qualifications

  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in drywall installation required.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces.
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners.
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound.
  • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in the finish coat.
  • Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets.
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists.
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry.
  • Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound.
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams.
  • Install exterior and interior steel studs.
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages.
  • Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms.
