From concept and design to getting products on shelves and online, we can support retailers, brands, and wholesalers with everything they need to get ready for retail.

IBG is in search of a Director of Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs, North America. This position will play a pivotal role in overseeing the regulatory and quality compliance functions across the region, with offices in New York, Toronto and Los Angeles. This position will provide strategic direction and leadership in managing all regulatory and quality-related activities for our cosmetic and personal care product lines, ensuring adherence to FDA, EPA, MOCRA, and other relevant regulations. The Director will also lead several teams, mentor key staff, and foster an environment of continuous improvement, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards for quality and regulatory compliance.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
Regulatory Compliance Leadership:
  • Strategic Oversight: Lead the development and execution of regulatory compliance strategies for cosmetics, personal accessories, and OTC products across North America, ensuring compliance with FDA, EPA, MOCRA, CFR, and other regional regulations.
  • Customer and Regulatory Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory matters with major customers, providing guidance on compliance issues and aligning with their regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory Submissions: Oversee the preparation, submission, and communication of all regulatory filings, ensuring alignment with internal processes and external regulatory expectations.
  • Audit and Inspection Oversight: Manage regulatory audits and inspections, ensuring the organization’s readiness and compliance with industry standards.
Quality Assurance & Control Leadership:
  • Quality Assurance Strategy: Lead the QA/Quality Control teams, setting strategic objectives and ensuring that all product specifications, testing, and quality standards are in compliance with both regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Risk Management: Direct quality risk assessments, identifying potential risks associated with new projects and processes. Establish mitigation strategies to ensure the continued safety and compliance of products.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Oversee the investigation of customer complaints, non-conformances, and deviations, leading corrective actions to maintain customer satisfaction and product integrity.
  • Metrics & Continuous Improvement: Monitor global quality metrics and establish and monitor NA quality metrics, implementing systems for ongoing assessments, audits, and continuous improvement in product quality.
Leadership and Team Management:
  • Strategic Team Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire the regulatory and quality teams across North America, providing clear direction, professional development opportunities, and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Resource Allocation: Ensure efficient utilization of resources across regulatory, quality assurance, and quality control functions to meet business goals and deadlines.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with senior leadership teams, including Product Development, Project Management, and Supply Chain, to align regulatory and quality objectives with broader organizational goals.
  • Global Leadership: Work closely with the Global QA/Regulatory leaders and global teams to ensure efficient use of IBG resources.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Collaboration Across Teams: Act as a key leader in cross-functional projects, providing regulatory and quality assurance guidance to support product development, launches, and manufacturing processes.
  • External Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with external regulatory bodies, industry associations, and key stakeholders to keep the organization informed on regulatory changes and ensure compliance across North America and globally, where required.
Risk and Compliance Management:
  • Proactive Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement risk management strategies to proactively address potential regulatory and quality risks, minimizing the likelihood of issues arising during product development or after launch.
  • Change Management: Oversee risk assessments for new products, processes, and major changes, ensuring that necessary mitigation actions are taken in advance.
ABOUT YOU:
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, Engineering). An advanced degree is a plus.
