Job description
Overview

Our client is a boutique strategy and advisory consultancy specializing in permitting, regulatory affairs, and environmental advisory services. They support clients across the mining, energy, infrastructure, and broader natural resource sectors, as well as provincial government partners. Their work often intersects directly with executive leadership teams, CEOs, and Boards, guiding high-stakes projects that require exceptional precision, strategic insight, and cross-sector coordination.

They operate with deep respect for and collaboration with First Nations communities and work closely with provincial and federal regulators to advance responsible, sustainable development. With offices nationwide and a rapidly expanding presence in Vancouver, their firm is recognized for a unique business model that aligns risk and reward through performance-based outcomes rather than traditional fee structures.

Responsibilities
  • Lead major Environmental Assessments (provincial and federal) as the client’s strategic advisor and owner’s representative
  • Oversee EA technical teams, including QA/QC of EA deliverables, schedules, and regulatory processes
  • Provide senior-level strategic advice on permitting, regulatory risk, Indigenous relations, government relations, and stakeholder engagement
  • Develop and implement integrated regulatory and permitting strategies that align technical, Indigenous, government, and public dimensions
  • Lead proactive regulatory engagement, including managing regulator relationships and advocating for fair, timely permitting outcomes
  • Support and lead Indigenous engagement initiatives, including negotiations of partnerships and agreements in support of responsible development
  • Design and execute government relations and public affairs strategies for complex projects
  • Oversee corporate reputation, issues management, and crisis response on behalf of clients
  • Lead stakeholder and public engagement programs, including coalition-building, advocacy, consultation, and communications
  • Act as a senior leader, reinforcing the firm’s brand, culture, and strategic approach
  • Support business development through networking, proposal development, client pitches, and relationship building
  • Lead, mentor, and manage team members, supporting professional development, performance, and day-to-day execution
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline (environmental, regulatory, planning, policy, or related field)
  • 12+ years of senior experience in environmental assessment, permitting, or regulatory consulting within Canada

  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with regulators, government officials, Indigenous groups, industry partners, and stakeholders
  • Experience developing and executing government relations and permitting strategies
  • Demonstrated client leadership, project management, and account management experience
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and managing professional teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to varied audiences
  • Proven negotiation, facilitation, and mediation skills
