Position Type: 12 month contract with option to convert to FT Perm after

Department: Capital Projects Delivery

Reports To: Vice President, Capital Projects or equivalent executive

Salary: $130 - 150/hr incorp

On site: Monday to Thursday, relocation allowance available

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) is seeking a highly experienced Director of Construction to lead the planning, execution, and oversight of all construction activities at the Chalk River Laboratories site. This role is critical in supporting CNL’s extensive capital projects and infrastructure renewal initiatives as part of its long-term site revitalization strategy.

As a key member of the senior project leadership team, the Construction Director will be responsible for overseeing contractors, managing field execution, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and delivering projects on time and within budget in a complex, highly regulated environment.

This is a full-time, on-site contract role with a high level of responsibility for field performance, construction standards, and alignment with project controls and engineering functions.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline (required). Advanced training or certification in construction safety, leadership, or project delivery is an asset.
  • Certifications: PMP, Gold Seal Certification (GSC), or equivalent construction management credential (preferred). Valid safety certifications (e.g., IHSA, CSO, First Aid) as applicable.
  • Experience: Minimum 12+ years of progressive experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity overseeing large-scale, complex industrial or infrastructure
