Position Title: Digital Associate Producer (On-Site) (English Services). Status of Employment: Temporary Long-Term (Fixed Term). Position Language Requirement: Language Skills. Work at CBC/Radio-Canada: At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. This role is on site in Yellowknife, Nunavut or Northwest Territories region as noted below, with full-time on-site presence. This is a full-time temporary position until September 2026. CBC Northwest Territories (NWT) is seeking a digital associate producer to work with our current affairs team in Yellowknife. The successful candidate will be responsible for pitching, researching and reporting stories for our flagship morning current affairs program, The Trailbreaker, as well as our noon and afternoon shows. The candidate will also be responsible for writing web stories using the same material.

We are seeking a team player who can add depth to our radio programming and website. Embedding with our current affairs team, you will be responsible for chasing and booking guests, writing greens and preparing items for the radio. Working in consultation with our digital team, you will also produce and package items suitable for cbc.ca/north. This will include sourcing photos, writing headlines, and working with our content management system.

The successful candidate will bring a passion for journalism, strong writing skills and the ability to tell rich, complex stories on multiple platforms. We are also seeking someone able to work effectively with a small team in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Pitch, research and report stories for The Trailbreaker and related programs; write web stories using the same material.

• Embed with the current affairs team to chase and book guests, write greens, and prepare items for radio.

• Produce and package items suitable for cbc.ca/north in collaboration with the digital team; source photos, write headlines, and manage content in the CMS.

• Contribute to both radio programming and online content with a clear, engaging storytelling style across platforms.

• Work in a deadline-driven environment as part of a small team.

Qualifications
  • University degree or equivalent in journalism or a related field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with various radio and digital production tools, including content management systems, social media, audio recording and editing software, photo editing and other publishing tools.
  • Ability to write news and feature stories and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to pitch and chase stories.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of the Northwest Territories and its people and communities.
  • Knowledge of a language Indigenous to the territory will be considered a major asset.
