Your Opportunity

The Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) is a family centered facility that is a cornerstone of quality care for the population of Red Deer and central Alberta. The Ultrasound Department at the RDRHC is offering the exciting opportunity for you to become a regular part time employee with this multi-disciplinary team and develop your sonography skills in a dynamic, acute care setting. The RDRHC is the largest hospital in the central zone and is currently the 4th highest in acuity of care across Alberta health care centers. As the Diagnostic Sonographer I, you are a member of the Ultrasound Department and have an integral role in performing diagnostic testing for the RDRHC. Your responsibilities will include excellent patient care, skilled technical abilities in obtaining diagnostic ultrasound images, collaboration with Radiologists, fellow sonographers and other medical and support staff. You will be providing care and participating with the technical impression reviews for both routine and critical patients. Your participation in ongoing educational aspirations is encouraged; this includes attending meetings, conferences, in-services and professional development programs. Description

As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and taking initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Required Qualifications

Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
