Job description

The Opportunity :

WSP is seeking a motivated Civil Design Engineer to join our Medicine Hat Land Development & Municipal Engineering (LDME) team. Reporting to the LDME Manager, this role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including site servicing, subdivisions, and municipal infrastructure improvements. As a key team member, you will collaborate with project managers, technical engineers, junior staff, and CAD technicians.

What you can expect to do here :

  • Design land development and municipal infrastructure projects such as site developments, municipal upgrades, water resources, and road design
  • Prepare analyses, designs, drawings, specifications, and reports
  • Provide technical advisory services
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Support field staff during construction and contract administration
  • Participate in design processes and provide team direction
  • Liaise with municipal, utility, and approval agencies
  • Assist in preparing RFPs, bids, and proposals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you'll bring to WSP :

  • 6-10 years of municipal infrastructure or land development experience
  • Degree or diploma in civil engineering from an accredited institution
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent in Alberta
  • Knowledge of local standards, environmental guidelines, and approval processes
  • Experience with sewer, watermain, and road design
  • Experience working with Alberta municipalities and First Nations is an asset
