Job summary

A consulting firm in Metro Vancouver is looking for a Senior Database Migration Engineer to lead the migration of over 2,600 SQL Server databases to AWS Aurora PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on experience with SQL Server, AWS Database Migration Service, and leading large-scale database migrations. This position requires expertise in maintaining data integrity and application performance during migrations.

Skills and Requirements

• 5+ years of hands‑on SQL Server experience (2012-2022)

• Proven experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)

• Hands‑on experience with AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)

• Led at least one large‑scale SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration (500+ databases)

• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture and query planner - Experience with RDS Proxy or connection pooling solutions

• Understanding of PostgreSQL performance tuning (EXPLAIN, pgstatstatements)

• Experience working with .NET applications and Entity Framework Core
