Role Overview

We are looking for a Data Strategist to define and implement the data strategy for the Compassionate Intervention program. This role requires working closely with government agencies, digital product teams, and stakeholders to ensure that data governance, privacy, and security frameworks align with Alberta’s policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive data strategy to align with the Alberta Compassionate Intervention framework.
• Establish data governance policies, including privacy, security, and compliance standards in accordance with FOIP and Health Information Act (HIA).
• Ensure data interoperability between health, justice, and social services systems, aligning with government regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to integrate data workflows with digital product teams.
• Define data quality management frameworks to ensure consistency, reliability, and auditability.
• Engage with executive stakeholders to communicate the impact of data-driven insights.
• Support the implementation of machine learning and predictive analytics, ensuring ethical AI usage.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data strategy, data governance, or data management within large-scale government or regulated environments.
• Deep understanding of privacy and security frameworks, including FOIP, HIA, and digital government policies.
• Proven experience integrating cross-ministry data sources for policy-driven decision-making.
• Hands-on experience with data architecture, metadata management, and analytics platforms.
• Experience leading data-driven projects using Agile or Scrum methodologies.
• Strong communication skills to work with policy-makers, technology teams, and stakeholders.
• Must be located in Canada and have required work permits (citizen, PR, etc.).
