The Information Technology Services (IT Services) department is looking for an experienced IT professional to take a leading role in developing critical data pipelines and dashboards to drive data-driven decision making throughout the university. The Data Analyst will work with our experienced team of data professionals to define, develop, implement and support our critical data platform services. This role is essential to the success of the ECRM (Constituent Relationship Management) program by cleaning, defining and transforming data into meaningful models and visualizations to serve as the life blood of our organization.

The incumbent will be a vital member of the ECRM and Data team coordinating with internal and external technical subject matter experts to transform requirements into key data capabilities for enterprise data and analytics. The Data Analyst is a detailed oriented person who easily adapts to change and is excited to build new capabilities with leading edge technologies.

This position builds databases data pipelines and dashboards and performs queries to generate relevant information and interpret and communicate results. This position analyzes and makes recommendations to improve database query and report functioning. This position designs and implements data discipline quality assurance data sharing and legislative compliance. This position also updates and maintains the data catalogue and metadata repository.

  • Interprets data needs and determines which data sources to use.
  • Supports staff on use of systems troubleshoots issues that may arise and communicates problems to technical resources.
  • Designs and implements data discipline quality assurance data sharing and legislative compliance.
  • Updates and maintains the data catalogue and metadata repository.
Required Education

Four-Year Bachelor Degree or addition requires trade certification qualification or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.

Experience and Knowledge
  • More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with data architecture higher education data taxonomy and / or business processes considered an asset.
  • Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of concepts and principles in a specialist field that is typically acquired through a combination of advanced professional or academic qualifications and / or substantial work experience.
  • Provide effective consultation and advice on non-straightforward and / or complex issues.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to understand and influence; adapt messages to meet different audiences.
  • Builds relationships, trust and credibility; prioritize and distribute work to deliver objectives on time and to the highest standard.
  • Identify in advance when the intended results may not be achieved and develop a plan to address the gaps.
  • Actively participate in project team meetings and develop individual and unit project plans.
  • Lead procedural or technological change within a unit.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work processes.
  • Seek information and input to fully understand the cause of problems; appropriately assess risks before making a decision.
  • Contribute to the creation and evaluation of possible solutions; take action to remove obstacles and address problems before they impact performance and results.
