Job description

We want to start up an in‑country Canada operation. eMed is the engine and power behind our associated brands and wishes to set‑up a health‑tech platform to support the sale of weight loss programmes (including prescription of GLP‑1s) across the Canadian provinces. Subject to local legislation and regulation, eMed will then liaise with a related company, SheMed, to launch a direct to consumer business in the women’s and men’s health spaces.

eMed Canada will also be looking to move into business sales (typically as a benefit offering for larger employers or on insurance platforms) and to move into governmental backed healthcare weight loss programmes.

The country manager will be a key local recruit to drive the appointment and day to day management of a small group of local staff to set up and launch the Canadian branch office and brand. This role will require navigating a complex regulatory landscape, engaging a quality local team and working at pace and with demanding stakeholders to create a best in class offering by Q1 2026.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
Market Setup & Compliance
  • Lead the regulatory registration and licensing process for the service in Canada (e.g., virtual care, telemedicine, lab partnerships).
  • Ensure compliance with all provincial college and privacy regulations (e.g., PHIPA, PIPEDA).
  • Liaise with local lawyers, regulators, and medical advisors as necessary.
Clinical, Pharmacy & Lab Partnerships
  • Identify and onboard partner providers, pharmacies, and laboratories for sample collection and results integration.
  • Establish SLAs and workflows with partner clinics and pharmacies.
  • Manage relationships with key vendors (labs, logistics, insurers).
Operations & Delivery
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Canadian service - ensuring turnaround times, clinical safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Recruit and manage in‑country hires.
  • Implement and localise SOPs, training, and QA processes.
Commercial & Growth
  • Support commercial rollout plans with insurers, corporate clients, and local marketing.
  • Provide market feedback and insight to product and leadership teams.
  • Contribute to pricing, packaging, and GTM strategy.
Leadership
  • Represent the company in Canada.
  • Build a high‑performance local culture aligned with the company’s mission.
  • Report directly to the UK MD and collaborate across clinical, tech, and business functions globally.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • 5+ years’ experience in healthcare operations, digital health or regulated health services in Canada.
  • Proven understanding of healthcare compliance (telehealth, PHIPA/PIPEDA, College of Physicians and Surgeons).
  • Experience building or managing partnerships with labs, clinicians, or health authorities.
  • Strong operational execution and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred
  • Experience with asynchronous or virtual care models.
  • Background in healthtech startups or scale‑ups.
  • MBA, MPH, or other relevant master’s degree.

Please note that offers of employment are subject to receipt of satisfactory references and a enhanced DBS check.
