Qualifications

Overview

The Role

As an Architectural Contract Administrator, you will be the primary point of contact during construction for multiple large-scale and complex building projects. You will oversee the administration of construction contracts, ensure adherence to drawings and specifications, and support both internal project teams and external stakeholders through all phases of construction. You will provide technical guidance, lead site reviews, manage documentation, and act as a key liaison between consultants, contractors, and client representatives. Your expertise will help ensure that each project is delivered to a high standard of quality, compliance, schedule, and performance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead contract administration activities for projects of varying scale and complexity
  • Conduct regular site reviews, issue field reports, and monitor conformance to contract documents
  • Review and process shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, site instructions, and progress claims
  • Assess contractor performance and escalate issues as required
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients throughout construction
  • Interpret codes, regulations, standards, and specifications to ensure full compliance
  • Participate in constructability reviews and advise on technical detailing
  • Maintain accurate, organized documentation and communications throughout all project phases
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members involved in construction administration
  • Support project close-out, including deficiency reviews and final documentation
Your Experience
  • 8+ years of relevant architectural contract administration experience, with at least 5 years of experience working knowledge with Ontario Bylaws and Building Codes
  • Strong understanding of building systems, technical detailing, and construction methods
  • Deep familiarity with construction contracts, field review processes, and industry best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Experience with construction administration platforms
  • Experience with REVIT, AutoCAD is an asset, not a requirement
  • CET, Architectural Technologist, Intern Architect, or equivalent technical background is considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and maintain professionalism under pressure
  • Based in Sudbury to attend site visits and meetings regularly and at short notice (in Sudbury, North Bay, and other Northern Ontario communities)
