Please Note: This is a temporary position ending on or before March 31, 2028, with the possibility of extension.

NAIT is on the hunt for a Communications Specialist who loves to turn ideas into stories people want to read. If you’re the type of person who grabs your phone to film a quick clip, designs a simple graphic to make something clearer, or can turn a “complex update” into an “oh now I get it!” moment—you might be exactly who we’re on the search for.

We’re looking for a strong writer and enthusiastic collaborator who likes to think differently, try new things, and bring creativity into everything they touch. You enjoy telling stories, supporting change communications, and helping teams communicate in ways that feel human, clear, and motivating. And when it comes to simple multimedia (short videos, graphics, digital one-offs), you’re comfortable rolling up your sleeves and producing content using accessible tools like mobile devices and basic design software.

In this role, you’ll report to a Communications Strategist and support internal communications across multiple channels for NAIT’s RISE Transformation program. You’ll help manage and refresh intranet content, coordinate basic multimedia projects, and assist with institutional engagement activities that help people across campus understand what’s changing and why it matters. You’ll work closely with transformation leads and colleagues across Marketing & Communications to build understanding, alignment, and momentum around NAIT’s Transformation initiatives.

This is a hands‑on, execution‑focused role—perfect for someone who’s detail‑oriented, organized, and energized by a fast‑paced environment. You’ll juggle multiple deadlines, experiment with creative approaches, and create content that helps the NAIT community feel informed, connected, and excited about what’s ahead.

If you love writing, creating, collaborating, and experimenting your way toward clearer communication, we’d love to meet you.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Write, edit and publish engaging internal communications that translate institutional and transformation‑related updates into accessible, motivating narratives.
  • Develop content that supports ongoing awareness of transformation efforts, priorities, progress and impacts.
  • Produce promotional materials for transformation‑related workshops, leader sessions, engagement activities and internal events.
  • Maintain a regular communication cadence that helps employees stay informed and connected to NAIT’s change initiatives.
  • Implement feedback loops to understand staff sentiment and engagement with transformation communications.
  • Track engagement metrics to assess content performance and channel effectiveness.
  • Recommend improvements based on analytics, staff feedback and emerging needs.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Strong storytelling instincts and a natural ability to produce clear, human and engaging content.
  • Comfort working with deadlines, shifting priorities and fast‑paced environments.
  • Experience with intranet systems, digital publishing tools and basic multimedia coordination.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with AI and LLM tools to support efficient content development is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and alignment with brand and editorial standards.
Qualifications:
  • A diploma or degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • 1–3 years of experience in communications or content development.
  • Experience writing for web, newsletters or organizational audiences preferred.
  • Experience with internal communications, change communications or digital content management is an asset.
  • Exposure to basic multimedia workflows is an asset.

Remuneration:$77,036.96 - $102,057.54 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Please submit a resume and cover letter to be considered for this opportunity.
