POSITION SUMMARY

As the Communications Department Project Manager for the Lausanne Movement, you will play a key role in scoping, coordinating, organizing, and delivering communication projects across the department. You will help ensure that content, campaigns, creative assets, and communications initiatives move smoothly from concept to completion.

This role focuses primarily on project execution. You will manage workflows, timelines, coordination with internal teams and external providers, and communication between contributors. You will help maintain clarity, efficiency, and consistency across the department’s output.

Working closely with the members of the communications team, you will help operationalize Lausanne’s mission-driven communication department efforts by providing strong project management, clear documentation, and dependable follow-through.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project Coordination and Scheduling: Coordinate and track communication department projects from intake to completion, ensuring timelines are met, deliverables move smoothly between contributors, and priorities remain aligned with departmental needs.
  • Workflow and Process Management: Implement and maintain clear workflows for content development, creative production, and publishing processes. Ensure team members understand requirements, deadlines, and next steps.
  • Process Review and Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies within communications workflows and recommend practical improvements. Support implementation of updated processes, tools, or documentation.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Facilitate effective coordination between the various communications department teams. Support seamless handoffs across teams and maintain alignment with project objectives.
  • Contractor and Service Provider Coordination: Manage communication with external writers, website managers, editors, designers, videographers, and other service providers. Oversee onboarding, expectations, timelines, and delivered work.
  • Content and Asset Tracking: Track content pieces, creative assets, and project stages, maintaining accurate documentation, organization, and visibility of progress. Ensure assets are stored, named, and organized for easy access by internal teams.
  • Quality and Consistency Support: Conduct basic quality checks on drafts and deliverables to ensure alignment with brand guidelines, communication standards, and project expectations. Flag issues and facilitate resolution between teams.
  • Internal Communication and Updates: Provide regular project status updates to relevant team leads. Communicate risks, delays, and dependencies proactively to maintain project momentum.
  • Documentation and Resource Management: Maintain up-to-date project documentation, workflow guides, checklists, and internal resources that support consistent execution across the department.
  • General Team Support: Provide dependable project-related support to Communications, Content, and Creative teams, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of departmental operations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Professional
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Project Management, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in communications tools and platforms, including project management systems and analytics software; familiarity with content management systems (Wordpress, MailChimp, etc.) is a plus.
  • Able to manage and work efficiently within multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, high initiative, reliability, self-motivation, self-management, and strong alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, ideally in a communications or creative environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate across multiple teams.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain strong follow‑through.
  • Alignment with the Lausanne Movement’s mission and values.

COMPENSATION

Payment will be arranged based on competencies and responsibilities and will be decided on an individual basis. Lausanne does not have direct employees so the payment will be contract work with a business vendor or the prospective contractor will be employed through one of our partner organizations.

LOCATION

Remote working arrangement, with required availability at different times of the day for periodic calls with staff around the world. This position may require some international travel (15‑20 nights per year).
