Commercial Underwriting Support & Account Executive
Burnaby | Hybrid | Part-Time Contract

Our client is a dynamic and highly respected specialty underwriting firm that partners with brokers across Canada to deliver tailored insurance solutions. You’ll work closely with senior leadership in a hybrid capacity, contributing directly to business development and underwriting operations in a supportive, high‑performance environment.

This is a part‑time opportunity for approximately 3 days a week, on a 24 month contract with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

As the Commercial Underwriting Support & Account Executive, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) while managing essential administrative and account servicing functions. Your responsibilities will include:

Underwriting & Operational Support (Approx. 50%)

  • Documentation & File Management: Maintain accurate and organized client files in Applied EPIC, ensuring all documentation—including applications, binders, endorsements, and policies is complete and properly stored.
  • Correspondence: Prepare, proofread, and format professional communications, quotes, and policies to uphold the firm’s high standards of accuracy and presentation.
  • Workflow Coordination: Manage calendars, schedule internal and client meetings, and coordinate travel arrangements to optimize the CUO’s efficiency.
  • Billing & Accounting Support: Assist with accounts receivable and payable tasks, manage financing arrangements, and follow up on outstanding premiums.

Associate Account Executive & Service Support (Approx. 50%)

  • Client Service: Provide exceptional service by acting as a secondary point of contact for brokers, processing endorsements and cancellations, and supporting claims submissions.
  • Renewal Support: Collaborate with the CUO to manage the renewal process, gather updated client information, and quote renewal business as needed.
  • Policy & Data Management: Create and manage quotes and policies in PolicyWorks for binder business, maintain the underwriting submission and renewal logs, and ensure data accuracy across systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with underwriters and brokers to ensure seamless operations and timely delivery of client solutions.
Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following:

Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a commercial lines insurance brokerage, MGA, or company environment.
  • Previous experience in a Commercial Broker or Underwriter role.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with Applied EPIC and PolicyWorks or other industry‑specific software is a strong asset.
