Position Information

Position Title: Co-op – Individual Actuarial Inforce and Policy Tax (Actuarial)

Reports To: Director, Individual Actuarial Inforce and Policy Tax

Department: Individual

Term: Temporary Full-Time, Four (4) Months

Work Term: January 5, 2026 – April 24, 2026

Salary: According to the school’s recommended Co-op earnings

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The Opportunity

We are searching for an industrious and self-motivated individual to join our Individual Actuarial Production team as an Actuarial Analyst. This individual should have a strong process improvement mindset, continually seek out ways to improve efficiency and possess exceptional customer service skills. In this role, you will join a team that supports our Individual Life Operations team with handling policyholder requests, oversees Individual Life policyholder taxation and maintains the integrity of policyholder tax administration and inforce illustration systems.

What you will be doing
  • Provide support related to internal and client generated requests for inforce individual life and health insurance policies
  • Perform analysis to ensure that inforce individual life insurance policies retain their status as insurance policies
  • Review policy transactions and accounting information
  • Perform Adjusted Cost Basis (ACB) and Taxable Gain calculations using policy transactions
What you will bring
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program that includes a Co-operative (Co-op) work component
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong process improvement mindset
  • Strong time management skills with commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel including VBA
  • Focus on providing excellent service to internal and external clients
  • Previous exposure to Individual Life and Health products and taxation is an asset
  • Previous experience using GGY Axis is an asset
