Job description
The Team

At the Victoria or Colwood Crown Counsel office, you’ll join an established team of professionals, including Legal Clerks, Legal Assistants, Senior Legal Analysts, and Paralegals. This close-knit group promotes public safety, justice, and respect for the rule of law through fair and effective prosecutions and appeals. The team’s strong communication and collaboration create a supportive environment where everyone works together to uphold these important values.

The Role

As a Legal Assistant, you will support Crown Counsel in preparing prosecution case files for court proceedings. Working under the supervision of Crown Counsel and the Office Manager, you will perform a variety of legal services in a high-profile and fast-paced office. Your role requires flexibility, teamwork, tact, diplomacy, communication, and strong organizational skills to ensure the efficient, accurate, and timely completion of responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Experience working as an administrative or legal assistant in an office environment.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following
  • Successful completion of an Administrative Assistant, Legal Assistant, or Paralegal certificate.
  • Experience working as a Legal Assistant in a legal office.
  • One year or more experience working as a Legal Assistant in a legal office.
  • Experience working within the criminal justice sector.
  • Experience working in the BC Prosecution Service.
About this Position

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. 3 positions are available. An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and/or permanent vacancies. A Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) and Enhanced Security Screening will be required. Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
