A community service organization in Ontario seeks a Residential Child and Youth Worker to deliver direct services to clients with mental health needs. Responsibilities include fostering therapeutic relationships and ensuring a safe environment. Candidates should have a Child and Youth Worker diploma and strong interpersonal skills, with preference for bilingual candidates. This role offers a challenging and rewarding environment.
Reporting to the Operational Supervisor, Residential and Day Treatment, the Residential Child and Youth Worker (CYW) works as part of an interdisciplinary team delivering direct services to clients with mental health needs. The Residential CYW is responsible for providing a safe and therapeutic environment in which individual client goals are actualized. All Kinark employees share the responsibility of workplace health and safety and the prevention of workplace hazards. Every employee must protect their own health and safety by working in compliance with the law and with safe work practices and procedures. In addition, it is important that the Residential CYW develops and maintains therapeutic relationships with clients, families and guardians and is adept at modeling positive social and problem solving skills, and skilled at behaviour management. This position is covered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 2860 (Internal applicants will be considered first). The position will be scheduled to meet program needs as per the Collective Agreement.
