The Opportunity

In this role, you will function similarly to a Hotel Manager, Guest Services Manager, and Food and Beverage Manager onboard our vessels, overseeing guest services and ensuring a high standard of service in addition to managing catering operations and ensuring top-notch service on board our vessels.

The Role

  • Supervising staff engaged in galley, food and beverage, retail, stateroom accommodation, and passenger service
  • Assigning duties and ensuring breaks and rest periods are scheduled
  • Assigning crew accommodation; checking qualifications and making arrangements for extra staff as required
  • Ensuring that staff are appropriately attired and adequately trained
  • Monitoring the level of service provided and ensuring customer service standards are met
  • Performing administrative duties such as staff time collection for payroll, planning and coordinating menus, completing records, reports, logs, processing mails, and tracking revenue, vessel catering, retail, and passenger assets
  • Conducting regular safety checks of areas used by passengers and catering crew
  • Ensuring all catering and passenger service equipment is in working order, including monitoring cleanliness, wear and tear, and baggage left behind
  • Ensuring adherence to emergency procedures, company policies, and safe work practices
  • Providing information to passengers about ferry schedules, routes, and fares
  • Assisting and handling passenger complaints and incidents; making phone calls and arrangements on behalf of passengers who have encountered problems
  • Keeping track of problems from previous shifts in log books and taking corrective action
  • Preparing bank deposits, delivering revenue to terminals, and ensuring the vessel is ready for the next sailing at the end of each shift
  • Performing additional duties including arranging for equipment repairs, ensuring work is completed safely, liaising with WCB and insurance adjusters regarding incidents, preparing the vessel for refit, and attending staff and joint committee meetings as required

What you bring to the team

You bring 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in the food service industry. A certificate or diploma in business, human resources, or hospitality is an asset.

A valid Seafarer’s Medical, Food Safe Level 1, and Serving it Right Certificates are required and can be obtained upon receiving an offer of employment.

Additional information

The target salary range is $77,300 - $96,600 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience, and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on an exceptional basis.
