Job summary

A health care provider in Portland, OR is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to ensure efficient patient care and maintain medical records. The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess medical assisting credentials, and demonstrate strong multitasking abilities. Certified Medical Assistant - Temporary at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic

Location: Portland, OR

Employment duration: Full time; Exempt Status: Non-exempt; Relocation: No

Position Highlights
  • 24.42-$35.95 / hour DOE
  • Additional pay for bilingual skills
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update patient medical records, including vital signs, treatments, and medications, and review immunization records.
  • Prepare for patient visits by reviewing files, ensuring necessary reports are available, and collaborating with Providers for efficient scheduling and continuity of care.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, explain procedures to patients, provide education and coaching, respond to patient questions and concerns, and assist physicians during exams and procedures.
  • Collect and prepare lab specimens, administer medication, and perform other assigned clinical responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program (CAAHEP or ABHES) with 720 training hours including 160-hour externship, approved apprentice program, 720 hours of college education, equivalent military training, or current MA or eligibility for certification
  • One year’s experience as a CMA is preferred
  • CPR certification
  • National credential from AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT within 90 days of hire
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish, Cantonese, and/or Vietnamese) candidates qualify for bilingual differential with a level 10 score on the language test
  • Medical knowledge for understanding theories, reasons, and technical aspects of medicine
  • Strong people skills to handle diverse personalities, backgrounds, and situations
  • Excellent multitasking ability to manage varied workloads
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Epic, and EMR
