Function: Career & Employment Specialist (CES)

Contract Duration: Six‑month term, with possible extension subject to funding.
Employment Type: Temporary, full‑time.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Career & Employment Specialist (CES) will provide job placement and career coaching services to NPower Canada program participants and alumni. The CES plays a pivotal role in ensuring that program participants and alumni secure 20 percent employment success during the program, or meet a goal of 80 percent employed within six months of graduation. This includes developing participants’ employment readiness skills, fostering job placement opportunities with employer partners, and guiding participants throughout their employment journey both during and after the program completion.

Accountabilities And Deliverables
Career Coaching and Employment Readiness
  • Provide one‑to‑one coaching, skills assessment, and ongoing support to participants and alumni to meet our outcome goals for employment.
  • Pre‑screen participants for employment readiness and suitability by conducting assessments.
  • Build rosters of suitable participants based on employer partner’s hiring needs and skills requirements.
  • Facilitate professional development sessions or workshops using standardized PD curriculum.
  • Support participants in building confidence in employment readiness and deployment aspects.
  • Coordinate appropriate events such as networking opportunities and job fairs in consultation with the Program Manager and Business Development Teams.
Job Placement
  • Guide participants through employer recruitment systems and processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of job application process(es).
  • Coach participants and alumni on strategies for long‑term employment success.
  • Engage and support alumni to ensure continuous communication throughout the six‑month post‑program support period.
  • Contribute to maintenance of employer intelligence and recruitment processes in coordination with regional Business Development roles.
Program Support, Case Management, and Team Collaboration
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager on participant status and progress, including constructive feedback and program withdrawals.
  • Collaborate with the Wraparound Support Team for interventions to support participants and alumni with community supports.
  • Support team onboarding and training, participate in case management meetings, and identify alumni success stories or ambassadors.
  • Use CRM tool (Salesforce) to ensure accurate documentation and timely submissions.
Data Collection, Administration, and Reporting
  • Collect and address relevant data, track program metrics within CRM tools to reflect status, progress, and outcomes, meeting internal reporting requirements.
Who You Are
  • 2+ years of experience in career coaching, job development, recruitment, or job placement, preferably with diverse clients facing employment barriers.
  • Demonstrated ability to empower diverse individuals to achieve career goals while fostering meaningful connections between employers and talent.
  • Integrity, commitment, and humility in all interactions with clients and staff, demonstrating good judgment.
  • Good understanding of trends, issues, and services within the career and employment sector.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills demonstrated through presentations, sensitive communications, reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Proven skills in time and task management.
  • Deliver services in line with contract, guidelines, policies, procedures, and performance requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM tools like Salesforce; experience with ATS systems is an asset.
  • Post‑secondary education in human resources, business, human services, or a related area is an asset.
  • CDP/CCDP designation is considered an asset.
  • Bilingual in French is required for applicants in Quebec and an asset for other provinces.
