Stephen Avenue Marketing (SAM) helps industrial businesses and investors managing carbon portfolios, optimizing battery revenues with MATEA AI, developing green projects, and securing flexible capital. A Carbon Markets Originator/Broker, builds and convert our high-quality pipeline of buyers and suppliers across compliance and voluntary carbon/clean-fuel markets across Canada and US, originate transactions end-to-end, and steward counterparties from first contact through executed deals and post-trade follow-ups. Our Originator/Broker must:
- Have proven track record sourcing and closing transactions with obligated entities and suppliers in compliance and/or voluntary markets.
- Be skilled at building target lists, running cadences, documenting touchpoints, and forecasting revenue with clean, auditable records.
Responsibilities
- Market origination: map the ecosystem, research target verticals, and qualify obligated entities and suppliers; build and maintain target lists and outreach cadences.
- Business development: run discovery calls, articulate SAM’s value proposition across asset management, optimization, project development, and capital solutions; tailor pitches and proposals.
- Relationship management: own key accounts and trading relationships; schedule regular check-ins, share market intelligence, and identify cross-sell opportunities.
- Pricing coordination: gather trade interests from both sides, coordinate with internal analytics to align on pricing/valuation, and communicate indicative/firm levels to counterparties.
- Deal execution: manage the commercial flow from handshake to execution, including drafting/issuing trade documentation, tracking approvals, and ensuring all records are complete and auditable.
- Pipeline hygiene: open and maintain opportunities, update stages/notes, forecast close dates and expected revenues; prepare weekly pipeline and conversion reports.
- Data and systems: capture counterparty details, file trade artifacts, and keep internal systems current so downstream teams can reconcile, settle, and report.
- Post-trade client care: send timely confirmations and communications; gather feedback to improve future transactions.
- Cross-functional liaison: partner with internal experts (markets, risk, ops) to remove blockers, align timelines, and maintain a smooth counterparty experience.
- Market intelligence: monitor regulatory and market developments (CFR, CA-LCFS, BC-LCFS, WA-LCFS, OR-LCFS, CORSIA) and brief clients and internal stakeholders on implications.
