Job description

Role: CAD Designer

Location: Saskatoon

Schedule: Full Time, Monday to Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

We are looking for a CAD Designer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role is pivotal in the design, development, and integration of remount systems and complex bus platforms, ensuring compliance with safety standards, customer specifications, and manufacturing capabilities.

You’ll work cross-functionally with Production, Supply Chain, IT, and other support teams to create robust and manufacturable vehicle designs that meet high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

As the CAD Designer you will:

  • Develop and maintain robust, production-ready designs and drawings that meet Crestline’s engineering standards, customer/OEM specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Generate accurate and complete Bills of Materials (BOMs) and documentation for production.
  • Review and incorporate feedback from manufacturing and quality teams to improve design accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Coordinate procurement of subcontracted materials in collaboration with the Supply Chain team.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles to reduce cost, increase quality, and enhance delivery.
  • Integrate feedback from internal teams, marketing, and customers to enhance product serviceability and satisfaction.
  • Analyze Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) metrics from remount and bus operations to identify and implement design improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Current Product Engineering (CPE) team to embed production efficiency at early design stages.
  • Support bids and tenders, compliance engineering, and troubleshooting of production and service issues as needed.
  • Maintain project timelines using MS Project or other platforms to ensure deliverables are met.

Qualifications

As the CAD Designer, you will have:

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology (CAD/CAM).
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
  • Knowledge of PDM/PLM systems, vehicle or automotive design, fabrication, carpentry, or upholstery is an asset.
  • Understanding of design technologies, principles, and manufacturing techniques.
