As a Buyer, you’ll join Loblaw’s Sourcing Team, accountable for purchasing goods across retail divisions that represent more than 3,000 stores coast to coast. You’ll report to the Sourcing Director and participate in all aspects of category sourcing, including domestic and offshore sourcing, supplier relationship and performance management, RFPs, cost negotiations and mitigation, supply risk management, quality management, supplier onboarding, and more. You’ll also provide category insights on cost inflation forecasting, commodity trends, competitive landscape analytics and global product innovation.

What You’ll Do
  • Source and execute weekly and seasonal product buys for baseline and promotional volume for our retail divisions.
  • Influence and execute buying strategies that align to category playbooks and deliver on annual budget obligations.
  • Build trusted relationships with the supplier community and external partners.
  • Lead and assist the Director with supplier meetings and product costing negotiations. Manage suppliers’ fulfilment and financial performance.
  • Evaluate new product and/or platform innovation and collaborate with the Loblaw Brands team and retail divisions on product innovation and program sourcing for private labels.
  • Collaborate with supply chain replenishment and transport teams to resolve product availability challenges and fulfilment obstacles.
  • Research the competitive landscape, industry benchmarking standards on costing, global sourcing strategies, and product quality specifications.
What You’ll Need

  • Post-secondary education in business or supply management, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years in a dedicated sourcing or retail merchandising role.
  • Ability to innovate, influence others, and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Analytical approach and experience using data to make decisions.
  • Financial, business and retail knowledge.
  • Strong relationship management skills and clear communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Teams; comfortable with various software platforms.
